Apartment Improvement Projects and Pool Hour for 2016

Fairfax Circle Villa Apartments Improvements

Fairfax Circle Villa Apartments continues its ongoing program of improving the facilities to better serve our residents. We truly appreciate the residents of our Fairfax apartments and will continue to improve our community. Please provide feedback to our office staff!

As part of this plan we will replace the roofs on all our buildings with 30-year shingles and oversized gutters and downspouts.

We have begun installing in unit washers and dryers in our one and two bedroom units as they become eligible for renovation. Our three and four bedroom units have always had in unit washers and dryers but as part of our dedication to satisfying residents we are going to extend this luxury to new residents. We are also installing over-the-range microwaves and granite counter tops in our units. This upgrade is proving extremely popular amongst new residents. They don’t stay available for long!

As most people know, noise emanating from adjacent units (especially from above) has been and continues to be a source of irritation for garden apartment residents. In order to mitigate this issue, and after much research, Fairfax Circle Villa now ensures that the subfloor is securely attached to the structure (this may naturally loosen over time) and we also install a new sound deafening mat under the carpeting. This state of the art sound attenuation system is now being installed in units requiring carpet replacement. The positive feedback received regarding the effectiveness of this system is extremely encouraging.

Ah, Memorial Day Weekend, that time of year in which you start grilling and coming up with new recipes to grill.

The taste of “Smoky Paprika Shrimp Skewers” sounds delicious!

Summer Shrimp Skewers Recipe

shrimp-skewer

Ingredients:
• 2 Tbsp sweet paprika
• 2 Tbsp smoked paprika
• 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
• 2 garlic cloves, minced
• 1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt
• 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
• 2 Tbsp lime juice
• 1/3 cup olive oil
• 1 lb of large shrimp, cleaned and peeled, tails on
• Bamboo skewers

Instructions:

  1. Soak the skewers in water for at least a half an hour before grilling.
  2. In a large bowl whisk together the spices—the paprika, cumin, garlic, salt, and pepper—and the lime juice and olive oil. Add the shrimp and toss to coat with the marinade. Keep chilled for half an hour to an hour.
  3. Prepare grill for medium-high direct heat, or heat a grill pan. Thread the shrimp onto skewers (it helps to double thread with two skewers at a time to make it easier to turn over on the grill). Baste the grill grates with some olive oil so that the shrimp don’t stick to the grill. Grill or cook a few minutes per side (2-4, depending on the size of the shrimp), until the shrimp are just cooked through. Remove from grill and serve immediately.

**Remember, we only permit grilling in designated areas within the community!
